It’s Catch-Up Time

November 27, 2009 at 9:17 am (Uncategorized)

I know it’s been a while since I’ve updated my blog…so since it’s a public holiday…I decided to update it…

It’s Friday…and for the past 3 days I was supposed to post up 3 separate posts…but in this 1 post I hope to update everything I’ve done in the past 3 days…so lets begin shall we…

Tuesday (24th November 2009)

Well, Tuesday was pretty uneventful…I just went to work and then headed to KL Live @ Life Center in KL (where the old Ruums was…opposite Menara KFC) for a reccee / meeting with some clients for an event on Wednesday night…after the meeting I went to Mid Valley to catch ‘Ninja Assassin‘ starring the one and only person named after a weather condition…the Korean superstar RAIN…

Here’s a review of the movie…

The Synopsis

Ninja Assassin follows Raizo (Rain), one of the deadliest assassins in the world. Taken from the streets as a child, he was transformed into a trained killer by the Ozunu Clan, a secret society whose very existence is considered a myth. But haunted by the merciless execution of his friend by the Clan, Raizo breaks free from them and vanishes. Now he waits, preparing to exact his revenge…

The plot is simple enough…I must say though that the action throughout was indeed pretty good…Rain does an OK job playing the main lead…but there were instances in the movie where I went “HUH?” and that was quite often…the makers of the film in my opinion tried way too hard to make the Ninja elusive and immortal…but all in all it was OK movie…a must for females who love Rain and want to oogle at his body…

I rate this…5 out of 10…

And with that Tuesday came to an end…

Wednesday (25th November 2009)

On Wednesday…I was actually looking forward to watching ‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon

The Synopsis of the movie

After Bella recovers from the vampire attack that almost claimed her life, she looks to celebrate her birthday with Edward and his family. However, a minor accident during the festivities results in Bella’s blood being shed, a sight that proves too intense for the Cullens, who decide to leave the town of Forks, Washington for Bella and Edward’s sake. Initially heartbroken, Bella finds a form of comfort in reckless living, as well as an even-closer friendship with Jacob Black. Danger in different forms awaits.

Unfortunately, I did not manage to watch the film…so I can’t really review the movie…I will get my buddy Brian to let me know his thoughts and I’ll do my best to get a review done…

The reason for my missing the movie…was because I was at this…

That’s the logo of Youreka…a campaign organised by Yahoo…and they had an event at KL LIFE @ Life Center…

The event was hosted by JJ & Ean from hitz.fm along with Moots! also from hitz.fm…this event featured several acts like Inspirational Joni, Urban Dub, Bunkface & Lap Sap…I really thought that I would not enjoy myself…but when you add in alcohol, music and girls…it’s bound to be enjoyable…all in all I enjoyed myself…and did I mention that they were giving out Adidas shoes, Blackberry’s and a Macbook Air…and yes I said Blackberry’s (I believe there were 6 that were given out), sometimes I wish I don’t have to work when events like this happen…

And that closes Wednesday…I know that since I’m blogging for Wednesday, I should do my top 10 list…but due to some unforeseen circumstances I’m not able to do the list yet…will get it out once my list is complete…

Thursday (26th November 2009)

Well, this day would be a day I remember…cos this is the day I got my car!!!!

Woo Hoo!!! Finally, Nicholas Pereira is an owner of an automobile…I know a lot of you might wanna see ‘her’…but I’ll keep you guys in suspense…I will however, give you ‘her’ name…and her name is Connie…don’t ask why but it just is…all will be revealed in due time…

Anyways, was on half day leave for the 1st Part of the day…to get Connie…waited till nearly 1.30pm…and when I got her…I headed straight to office…worked and sorted out my stuff and left for home…then went over to Papa Rich in Uptown with some friends…

And Thursday comes to an end…

In the words of Elmer Fudd…That’s All Folks…will write soon…

Weekend Review

November 23, 2009 at 5:51 pm (Uncategorized)

Well, it’s 12.27am…so technically it’s Tuesday…but had an interesting evening with Jase, Terence & John…it’s been a while since we all gathered and chill. It was really fun to catch up after a long time…

Anyways, the weekend was pretty ok…on Friday went to Cyber Cafe with some friends to play Call of Duty…it was fun…it’s always a good release when you get to blow shit up…although it’s a computer game. Fun and good release nonetheless…

On Saturday, hung out with some friends…also had fun…somehow when things don’t get planned, it ends being the most fun I have…so weird…well maybe because I’m not filled up with anticipation or expectation…so whatever happens..it ends up being really good…

Also on Saturday, I received great news…Man Utd beat Everton 3 goals to nil..but the 2 best news of the night…was Liverpool drawing with Man City and Arsenal LOSING (yes I repeat…ARSENAL LOST!!!) to Sunderland…so it was a good night…sorry Arsenal fans (you know I had to do it)

Here’s a rundown of results of matches that happened over the weekend…

Well, slept like a baby (thanks to the news)…and Sunday came about…and I got up lil after 10 AM…and stayed home for the most part of the day…it’s always good when you don’t need to do anything and just disconnect from the world.

Went to a mamak on Sunday night and slept little after 2.00 am…and then Monday came along like an un-invited guest…but you know as they say “if you can’t beat em’…join em’ ”

And Monday as usual sucked…cos had to wake and go to WORK…something 90% of the world dislikes doing…I really do think the MOST HATED day of the week would be Monday…anyways…it’s now 12.50 am…and I’m starting to fall asleep…so gonna turn in…have a good Tuesday all…

Movie Review Time

November 18, 2009 at 5:32 pm (Uncategorized)

Well, it’s exactly 12.57am…Thursday (19th November 2009) so if memory serves me right…it’s Movie Review time…I just came back from watching Astro Boy…and on Tuesday (17th November 2009) I watched Christmas Carol…

So I’ll be reviewing both Christmas Carol and Astro Boy…

1st Up…CHRISTMAS CAROL

Synopsis

If any of you out there who has never heard of this story…shame on you…so for your benefit…here’s the full synopsis…

On Christmas Eve in Victorian England, Ebenezer Scrooge, a bitter and miserly old moneylender, holds everything that embodies the joys and spirit of Christmas in contempt, refusing to visit his cheerful nephew Fred’s Christmas dinner party with his family, and forcing his underpaid employee Bob Cratchit to beg to take the day off for his own family. That night, Scrooge is visited by the ghost of his former business partner, Jacob Marley, who had died seven years prior on Christmas Eve and is now forced to spend his afterlife carrying heavy chains forged from his own greedy ways. Marley warns Scrooge that he will suffer an even worse fate if he doesn’t repent, and foretells that he will be haunted by three spirits that will help guide him.

The first spirit, the Ghost of Christmas Past, shows Scrooge visions of his own past that take place on or around the Christmas season, reminding him of how he ended up the greedy man he is now. He had spent much of his childhood neglected by his father over the holidays at boarding school until he was finally brought home by his loving sister Fan, who died prematurely after giving birth to his nephew Fred. Scrooge later began a successful career in business and moneylending and became engaged to a woman named Belle, though she later called off the engagement when he began to grow obsessed with accumulating his own wealth. Unable to bear having to witness these events again, Scrooge extinguishes the spirit.

The second spirit, the Ghost of Christmas Present, shows Scrooge the happiness of his fellow men on Christmas day. Among them are his nephew Fred, who playfully makes jokes with his family at Scrooge’s expense, and Bob Cratchit and his family, who are just barely able to make do with what little pay Scrooge gives Cratchit. The Cratchits also tend to a sickly young son, Tiny Tim, whose commitment to the spirit of Christmas touches Scrooge, who is dismayed to learn from the spirit that he may not have much longer to live. Before the spirit vanishes, it warns Scrooge about the evils of Ignorance and Want, showing them as terrifying, uncivilized children doomed to grow into savage, despicable individuals.

The third and final spirit, the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, shows Scrooge the final consequences of his greed. Tiny Tim has died, leaving the Cratchits to mourn him on Christmas. Scrooge has also died, though there is more comfort than grief in the wake of his funeral. In addition, Fred finds benefit from inheriting his wealth, and Scrooge is even robbed by his former maid. Unwilling to let this grim future come to pass, Scrooge begs to be given a second chance as the spirit forces him into his deep and empty grave leading all the way to Hell.

Scrooge awakens to find himself in his bed on Christmas morning, the three spirits having guided him over the course of one night, and immediately sets out to atone for his sins, making donations to the poor, attending Fred’s dinner party, and giving Cratchit a raise to care for his family, allowing Tiny Tim to live. Scrooge spends the remainder of his life a new man embodying the spirit of Christmas itself, and the film ends.

My personal opinion…I enjoyed it…would like it even more if it was shown during Christmas…personally it would be more impactful…overall it really teaches you to live life to the full…Jim Carey was on top of his game in this one…playing several (and I mean several) characters is not easy…and he made all his characters different…

Here’s the trailer to whet your appetite

VERDICT:- A solid 7 of 10 points

Next Up…Astro Boy

Synopsis

He’s probably the most famous semi naked boy around…but as usual…some people might not know who he is…so once again here’s a full synopsis…

Set in futuristic Metro City, Astro Boy is about a young robot with incredible powers created by a brilliant scientist in the image of the son he has lost. Unable to fulfill the grieving man’s expectations, our hero embarks on a journey in search of acceptance, experiencing betrayal and a netherworld of robot gladiators, before he returns to save Metro City and reconcile with the father who had rejected him.

I had no expectations of this movie (which almost always end up with me liking the movie) and this movie is no different…I thoroughly enjoyed it…visuals were cool (not great, but cool)…story to me was pretty good…execution was alright…made me look forward to other parts of the movie…I’d recommend this to watch…not necessarily in the cinema…but do try and catch it…

Here’s the trailer to help you decide on whether to watch or not

Verdict: 5 out of 10 points

Well, if the calendar is correct…which I think it is…today is Wednesday (18th November 2009) and this marks my first TOP 10 list…so here it is…

My TOP 10 Hottest Female Actresses

Number 10

Jennifer Love Hewitt…my first big celebrity crush…was in her prime circa 1990s…has moved on to obscurity…but still makes my list for being my ‘First’…

Number 9

Eva Mendes…my favourite Latina…move over Salma Hayek…shake you bootay somewhere else JLO…

Number 8

Anne Hathaway…my ‘princess’ , I didn’t really like her in Princess Diaries 1 but warmed up to her in part 2 (weird that I watched both huh?)…anyways…really got into her during Get Smart…I thought she looked ‘FINE’ in that movie…so here she is on my list…

Number 7

Maggie Q…came into my ‘radar’ in 2000 when she starred in the HK movie Gen Y Cops…I wondered at that time, who the heck is this chick…and when she spoke (with the accent)…I was love struck…so she is definitely a ‘must’ in my TOP 10 list…

Number 6

Emmanuelle Chriqui…fans of Entourage will know who she is…she plays Sloan (nice name eh?)…but I noticed her way before Entourage…when she starred in the movie 100 Girls…so she’s a sleeper entry…but a worthy one nonetheless…

Number 5

Sienna Miller…always fancied her…but never really thought she was super hot…she’s sweet but not hot…but that all changed when she put on her leather suit in GI JOE, where she played Baroness…HOT!!!!!…I’ll gladly be her Baron…hahaha…a worthy inclusion to the list…

Number 4

Jessica Alba…what else can I say about her?…she will always have a place in my heart…really started liking her after noticing her on the TV Series Dark Angel…then a succession of movies like Into The Blue, Fantastic 4, Honey to name a few…she has found a place in my heart…although she’s married and have a baby…Jessica Alba will always be in my TOP 10 list…

Number 3

Jennifer Aniston…yes it is her…can you believe she’s 40?…damn she looks FINE…always liked her…but loved her in the movie The Break-Up…especially the kitchen scene…hahaha…she too is a ‘MUST’ in this list…

Number 2

Megan Fox…you all know she has to be in this list, come on…but she’s not number 1…this fox took the world by storm in the infamous car bonnet opening scene in Transformers…and then the painting of a motorcycle in Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen…this girl is relentless in making guys swoon…and when you think she’s done…she comes and gives us Jennifer’s Body…and all out Megan Fox buffet for the eyes…from now on…a hell yeah to be included into any hottest list…

NUMBER 1

KATE BECKINSALE…she is my idea of a perfect woman…she can be in an action movie like Underworld & Underworld 2…but she can be the sweetheart and hot wife in Click…and she can also be a US Marshall in Whiteout…to me she’s AWESOMELY HOT!!!…I think people who have me on Facebook will know my feelings for her…so she is without a doubt my NUMBER 1…but if you need more reasons…check out this video

I’m Back!!!

November 17, 2009 at 9:09 am (Uncategorized)

It’s been about 2 years since I’ve blogged…and my other blog was closed cos of my lack of enthusiasm in updating it…anyways, I’m back…and hopefully this time around my blog will stay opened and updated…

You’re probably wondering why the sudden urge to start a blog (again?). Well I’ve just returned from YES 2009 which stands for Youth Engagement Summit 2009. Here’s the logo…

If any of you know me, you’ll know that I don’t fancy stuff like this…but was kinda ‘forced’ to go…alas, I’m thankful that it happened and I went for it…this was a very eye opening 2 days…and should they have another one next year. Sign me up PLEASE!!!

The first speaker (after the usual opening speeches) theĀ  on Day 1 (16th Nov 2009) was Mr. Biz Stone. You’re probably asking…Biz who?? Well, ever heard or used Twitter? He’s one of the 3 people who founded Twitter.com and here’s how he looks like…

I really enjoyed his session, cos he’s such a down to earth guy…and here are several statements/points he made that really struck me (for 1 reason or other)

  1. Opportunities can be manufactured
  2. Creativity is a renewable resource
  3. Entrepreneur ism means becoming mortal

He gave excellent examples to prove that all the statements made were actually true…and it’s so amazing that something that wasn’t planned could end being SO popular and AWESOME!!!

Speaker 2 on Day 1 is Dr. Mamphela Ramphele, she’s a Former MD of World Bank, Vice Chancellor of Cape Town University…here’s her pic…

She is one smart lady…her session right after Biz’s session was a bit dull/boring…so safe to say I struggled to pay attention to her session. I did however managed to listen in to the important parts which for the life of me can’t remember what it was…I’ll update once I remember…

I left after lunch on Day 1…it was a good first time to YES 2009…you can read about it when you click on the YES 2009 logo…

So with great anticipation I headed to PICC (Putrajaya International Convention Center) for Day 2…and this was the day I was looking forward to. Cos they had these 2 people…

Donald “F%^King TRUMP (Live via Satellite from Trump Towers in New York!!!!

and

Randi Zuckerberg…she’s the Marketing Director of Facebook…

Really enjoyed both their sessions, it’s not everyday when you get to be in the presence of The Donald…I know it’s not him LIVE IN PERSON…but it was still AWESOME…he was his usual ‘pouty’ self…overall enjoyed his session.

Then came along Randi…she was so bubbly and warm…you could see that she REALLY enjoys her job (who wouldn’t?, she gets to Facebook for a living, how cool is that?) She dished out cool facts about Facebook which I did not know…like I didn’t know that President Barrack Obama used Facebook during his presidential campaign. And Randi was actually worked on that…now that’s cool…

Anyways, that was the end of the day for me cos had to go back to office to sort some stuff out…but YES 2009 really left an impact…will definitely do my best to go for the next one…

Since this is my first blog entry in a long time…I’ve decided to come with some theme days…so here it is (please let me know if there are topics or themes you’d like add in)

Monday – Usual rant on things that happen on the weekend

Tuesday – Preview of WWE RAW

Wednesday – My TOP 10 list (of anything)

Thursday – Movie / TV Series

Friday – Preview of Weekend Events (if any)

Saturday / Sunday – REST (updates will happen as and when things happen)

Let me know what you think about my theme days…anyways it’s now about 7ish and I need to rush off to Mid Valley to catch Jim ‘Rubber face’ Carey in 3d for Christmas Carol…sorry Bry & Mel for being late…leaving de…

Till tomorrow…Laterz!!!
