Where did it go?

November 9, 2010 at 3:14 pm (Uncategorized)

Just today I was asked how old I was…and when I said my age…it was received with a disbelief…even now I still don’t believe my age..so then it got me thinking…

Where did time go? When did I suddenly become an adult? These are questions being asked everyday by 20 somethings all over the world…how did we get from teenagers, ogling at girls in mall and getting butterflies in our stomach when we go out with a girl we really like to worrying about credit card payments, car loans, handphone bills and for some…a MORTGAGE!!

I never really did get a manual or training on what to do or how to handle adulthood…all I was told is…your an adult now, there are things that you need to be responsible for now…yeah thanks for the heads up…

Anyways, I’m not complaining. Being an adult, almost always means you get to do whatever you want (within legal means that is) but with that it also comes the inevitable RESPONSIBILITY…well I guess everyone has to go through that…and I guess it’s my turn now. But for all you mid and late 20s people out there…here’s a few songs that might remind you of the time where baggy jeans and skater shoes were all rage. Where Airwalks, Alien Workshop and Ocean Pacific rocked…

Be thankful you didn’t grow up to 80s music although my best friend loves 80s music…I’m very thankful to have my 90s music…so enjoy…and let yourself go down the lane we all call Memory…

The Expendables

August 18, 2010 at 2:03 am (Uncategorized)

This movie was pegged with so much hype, it would be impossible for me to miss it…so last night with Brian, Melanie. Milk and June…we headed to Tropicana City Mall to catch THE EXPENDABLES!!! And in case you’re wondering what the word Expendable means well it simply means: capable of being sacrificed in order to accomplish a military objective.

For those of you who have no idea what The Expendables is…here’s the movie poster…

Here’s a short synopsis:-

THE EXPENDABLES is a hard-hitting action/thriller about a group of mercenaries hired to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its ruthless dictator. Once the mission begins, the men realize things aren’t quite as they appear, finding themselves caught in a dangerous web of deceit and betrayal. With their mission thwarted and an innocent life in danger the men struggle with an even tougher challenge, one that threatens to destroy this band of brothers.

Sounds simple enough yes? Well, IT IS…which makes it such an AWESOME movie to watch. If ever you feel stressed and need to see people getting shot, slashed and just downright getting pummeled into a pulp…this movie delivers on all accounts…in the words of a friend, this movie is ‘clean and short’.

No complicated plots, no twists, just good old fashioned action…the only downside to the movie that was pointed out by Brian was the fact that the fight scenes were rather short and it was too hectic that you really couldn’t see who was beating up who…the main plus side of the movie was watching Sly, Dolph and Arnold back on the big screen…the reason I didn’t mention the rest is because Jet Li has been working quite a bit, so has Jason Statham and Terry Crews…even Mickey Rourke has been seen in Iron Man 2…so it was very AWESOME to see those 3 back on the silver screen…NICE…

All in all…the movie rocked!!! So if you’re in the mood for an old fashioned action flick…The Expendables is a MUST!!!

How to train your dragon??

March 18, 2010 at 9:56 am (Uncategorized)

I know whoever reads this title would probably be wondering…what in the blue hell is this dude talkin about?

No I’m not high or delusional, this is a title of a movie which I managed to catch recently…

I know…you’re probably saying that this is a kid’s show…that it maybe but it’s one heck of a kid’s movie…cos this big kid really, really enjoyed it…

Here’s a quick synopsis of the movie…

A hapless young Viking who aspires to hunt dragons becomes the unlikely owner of a young dragon himself, and learns there may be more to the creatures than he assumed.

The story is pretty simple and straight to the point which is good…I mean who needs to get confused figuring out who the good or bad guy is…but that’s the movie’s strongest point…it’s the way it was made. I watched this movie in 3D and I must say that this movie really used 3D at all the right moments in the film…

Gerard Butler (from 300, Gamer & Ugly Truth fame) plays a great Viking leader named Stoick…you could tell from this movie that he thoroughly enjoyed letting his Scottish accent run wild…it was pretty enjoyable actually…the rest of the  voice talents fit their on screen characters quite well…but the real stars of the movie were the Dragons…

Here’s a quick run-down of the dragons…

This little bugger is called the Terrible Terror…cool name for a little dude…

Monstrous Nightmare is it’s name…one of the Vikings most feared dragons…

The Vikings call this dragon the Hideous Zippleback…

Cute isn’t it?…Gronkle is what it’s called…

This bundle of joy is called Deadly Nadder…

And now (drumroll) my personal favourite…

NIGHT FURY….this picture does not it justice…you’ll need to catch the movie to know what I mean…

Overall, I would rate this movie a solid 4 stars out of 5…and it’s not always I hand out 4 stars…but personally, this movie deserves it…it’s one of the few movies which I don’t mind watching again and again…my suggestion…this movie is a MUST WATCH…I really want a dragon now…

Here’s the trailer to give you a feel of the movie…

The Champ was here!!!

February 9, 2010 at 8:17 am (Uncategorized)

Finally, Malaysia received a genuine American Idol champ…not a runner-up…but an actual champ. And we didn’t get a champ that won 2 years ago. We got the reigning American Idol champ…he is none other than Kris Allen (and the girls go wild!!!*and some guys too)

For those who don’t know who he is and didn’t know he graced our shores…I have one question for you. WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?? So in the spirit of education…here’s a quick write-up of the man…

Kristopher NeilKrisAllen (born June 21, 1985) is an American singer-songwriter from Conway, Arkansas, and the winner of the eighth season of American Idol.[1] Prior to Idol, he self-released a 2007 album entitled Brand New Shoes.[2][3]

Allen’s Idol coronation song, “No Boundaries” and his version of “Heartless” both charted within the Top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100. Allen’s post-Idol self-titled album was released on November 17, 2009, through Jive Records. The album debuted at #11 on the U.S. Billboard 200 shifting over 80,000 copies. The album’s lead single, “Live Like We’re Dying“, was released on September 21, 2009, and has so far peaked at #23 in the U.S.

His path to stardom is pretty damn amazing…this American Idol thing is a big deal after all…this is my epiphany after watching him perform last night…and seeing the response he got from all the girls and yes, some guys too. That made me realize how big American Idol can make you and how big it actually is…cos he went from this…(just check out what Simon & Randy says about him)

Boy! Did they get it wrong…but for me just like Always Be My Baby was the clincher for David Cook…this song to me was the clincher for Kris Allen…

Of course…he went on to win American Idol…which to many at the time was a SHOCKER!!! Cos everyone knows that Adam Lambert was the odds on favourite to win…so it’s safe to say, Kris Allen winning was an upset…he then proceeded to release this song…

Amazing huh? Since the announcement of his showcase in Malaysia…the entire country has been consumed by Kris Allen Mania…to quote a line from a movie I watched…it goes something like this…”It Used to be that people were on TV because they’re special, but now just being on TV makes them special”

Taboo?

January 29, 2010 at 3:31 am (Uncategorized)

In this day and age, political correctness and gender equality is all the rage…and I’m one of those who strive to be just that. Politically Correct (PC for short) and being equal to all genders (well, at least I try to be)

So usually my posts are for everyone, be it male or female…unfortunately, for this post…it’s only for males (sorry ladies)

In the office, I’m sure everyone has heard the phrase that inter office romance or affairs and especially scandals spells trouble for the parties involved. But how about office fantasies?…does it hurt anyone? Ever looked at a colleague and think…”Would I?”…or “How would she look without…?” I’m sure you have…if you shaking your head profusely. I say YOUR LYING!!!!

I’m sure every warm blooded guy has done that…I sure have…and to test this theory I enlisted help…and guess what? Out of all the help I enlisted…100% proved my theory right…so still say you haven’t thought about your colleague?

To take this to the next level…I did a little survey…I asked who my help (people I asked) would love to have ‘relations’ with?

And here’s the TOP 10 in no particular order (so no one would get jealous) and I’ve shortened them into initials…

1. N. F (MILF)

2. B.L

3. P.L.K.

4. C. W.

5. I.I.

6. N.K.

7. J.M.

8. G.M.Y.

9. N

10. T.W.

There you have it…have fun trying to decipher who those lovely ladies are…and if you’re in an office that does not have women like that…I have only thing to say to you…YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU’RE MISSING…

But in all seriousness, in my opinion office fantasies are a good way of getting by those days when you just feel like breaking someone’s head off…and technically it’s not illegal…cos I think the only thing a person truly own are his or her thoughts…I mean the worst thing you could ever lose is not your RM 10k Louis Vuitton bag…it’s your mind…

So in conclusion…don’t have office romance…have office fantasies…it’s fun…not to mention safe…and for those who do not know what a MILF is…here’s a clip to explain where it came from…

Top 10 of 2010 so far…

January 4, 2010 at 1:09 pm (Uncategorized)

I know that it’s been a while since I’ve lasted posted a top 10 list…so ladies & gentlemen, boys & girls, children of all ages…Nicholas Pereira proudly brings to you…his Top 10 most anticipated Movies of 2010!!!! (and the crowd goes wild!!!)

1. Iron Man 2

Well Robert Downey Jr. reprises his role as billionaire Tony Stark aka Iron Man…but this time he gets a little ‘help’…the only thing about this movie that I have an issue with is the exclusion on Terence Howard…that’s all…the trailer looks cool…and there’s Scarlett Johansson what’s not to like?

Here’s a brief synopsis…

With the world now aware of his dual life as the armored superhero Iron Man, billionaire inventor Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) faces pressure from the government, the press, and the public to share his technology with the military. Unwilling to let go of his invention, Stark, along with Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), and James “Rhodey” Rhodes (Don Cheadle) at his side, must forge new alliances — and confront powerful enemies.

Told you it was brief…please click on the poster for full cast line-up…and oh yeah the trailer is below…

2. Clash of The Titans

If you’re wondering if you’ve heard of the title of this movie before…you’re right you have…this is actually a remake of a 1981 movie called aptly enough Clash of The Titans…this however I can almost guarantee will be cooler…well maybe because it’s 2010 now and NOT 1981???

Anyways, here’s a brief summary on the plot of the movie…

The mortal son of the god Zeus embarks on a perilous journey to stop the underworld and its minions from spreading their evil to Earth as well as the heavens.

Did I lie about it being brief?

It stars Sam Worthington, yes the guy from Terminator: Salvation and last year’s gigantic hit Avatar
looks like he’s now the IT Boy huh?

So to get a better idea of how different the new and the old one are…let me first show you the poster for the 1981 version….

Talk about old school…

Here’s the trailer from 1981…

And the one from 2009 (cos the trailer was released last year)

Can you see the difference?…Damn…we really have come a long way huh?

3. Shutter Island

The tag team of Di Caprio and Scorsese in my opinion is the only Actor – Director team that can match the Depp and Burton combo…

And Leo and Martin are back with Shutter Island…here’s the synopsis…

It’s 1954, and up-and-coming U.S. marshal Teddy Daniels is assigned to investigate the disappearance of a patient from Boston’s Shutter Island Ashecliffe Hospital. He’s been pushing for an assignment on the island for personal reasons, but before long he wonders whether he hasn’t been brought there as part of a twisted plot by hospital doctors whose radical treatments range from unethical to illegal to downright sinister. Teddy’s shrewd investigating skills soon provide a promising lead, but the hospital refuses him access to records he suspects would break the case wide open. As a hurricane cuts off communication with the mainland, more dangerous criminals “escape” in the confusion, and the puzzling, improbable clues multiply, Teddy begins to doubt everything – his memory, his partner, even his own sanity.

Sounds interesting…here’s the trailer to further whet your appetite…

4. Prince of Persia

Yes the famous video game is now a movie…ladies please grab a tissue…cos Jake ‘Brokeback’ Gyllenhaal is buffed up and playing the lead…I’ve never really played the game, so I’m not really sure what the movie is gonna be about…but the trailer looks cool…

Here’s the synopsis before I show you the trailer…

Set in medieval Persia, the story of an adventurous prince who teams up with a rival princess to stop an angry ruler from unleashing a sandstorm that could destroy the world. Which is why after the prince was tricked by a dying Vizier to unleash the Sands of Time that turns out to destroy a kingdom and transforms its populace into ferocious demons. In his effort to save his own kingdom and redeem his fatal mistake, it’s up to the prince and the princess to return the sands to the hourglass by using the Dagger of Time, which also gives him a limited control over the flow of time.

And the moment you’ve all been waiting for…

5.  A Nightmare on Elm Street

Just when you thought it was safe to dream again…here’s the synopsis

A re-imagining of the horror icon Freddy Krueger, a serial-killer who wields a glove with four blades embedded in the fingers and kills people in their dreams, resulting in their real death in reality.

Pretty straight forward and a REAL MUST WATCH for me but I am looking forward to see how they re-invent Freddy…here’s the trailer…

6. Alice In Wonderland

This is the combo I was telling you about…earlier it was Leo and Martin, now it’s Johnny & Tim…my bet for box office success…is this one…it seems more commercial than Shutter Island…anyway here’s the synopsis (like you need it) but this is with a twist…

The traditional tale has been freshened with a blast of girl power, courtesy of writer Linda Woolverton (Beauty and the Beast). Alice, 17, attends a party at a Victorian estate only to find she is about to be proposed to in front of hundreds of snooty society types. Off she runs, following a white rabbit into a hole and ending up in Wonderland, a place she visited 10 years before yet doesn’t remember.

Here’s the trailer…

7. The A-Team

Yes, the famous team is back…and naturally their played by new actors…there’s no poster yet…so I’ve provided you with a visual of how the new A Team looks like…

Synopsis:-

A group of Iraq War veterans looks to clear their name with the U.S. military, who suspect the four men of committing a crime for which they were framed.
I LOVE IT WHEN A PLAN COMES TOGETHER!!!
Sorry, but no trailers to whet your appetite…
8. The Last Airbender

This movie is based on a cartoon series on Nickelodeon…cool concept…had it translates well on the big screen…also hopefully M.Night doesn’t act in it…;)
Here’s what the movie is about:-
Water. Earth. Fire. Air. In the old days, there was peace between the four nations of the world. The Avatar — Master of all four elements — kept peace between the the Water Tribes, the Earth Kingdom, the Fire Nation, and the Air Nomads. Only the Avatar has the ability to Bend (manipulate) all four elements, but one day, he Vanished.
Then the Fire Nation attacked, forcing a war on the other three nations for one hundred years. Now, for the good of the world, it’s up to 12-year-old Aang (Noah Ringer), the new Avatar, to return peace and balance by putting an end to the war and mastering all four elements. Aang must accept his destiny by stopping the Fire Nation’s war and defeating the Fire Lord for good.
See…cool eh?
9. Tron Legacy
This movie is just like Clash of The Titans is a remake of the original released in 1982…this is the more futuristic and updated version on Tron…
Here’s the synopsis…
Sam Flynn, the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn, looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin’s loyal confidant, father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.
Tron Legacy Trailer
Here’s the 1982 poster for Tron
So 1980s
And finally…
10. The Green Hornet

Yes, this yet another remake of an old TV series or movie…no poster or visuals yet so I can’t share with you guys…
I can share however the synopsis:-
By night, debonair newspaper publisher Britt Reid fights crime as a masked superhero known as The Green Hornet. At his side is martial arts expert Kato.
Here’s a fun fact…Bruce Lee was the original Kato…and guess who’s the new Kato and Green Hornet?
I’ll let you guess…

Bored…

December 28, 2009 at 2:45 pm (Uncategorized)

Have you even been so bored that you actually get sleepy? It’s been a while since that happened to me…is it a good thing? I seriously don’t know…being on leave for the past week has made me realize how much time I actually spend in the office…which I know for a fact is bad…

For past couple of days…whenever I pick my nephew up from the babysitter or when I go and drop off laundry or go anywhere where I’ve not been for a long time because of work…I always get asked the question..”SO FREE AH?” or “HOW COME YOU’RE HOME SO EARLY?”…and when my answer is “ON LEAVE MAH” then I get an understanding reply…

But my question is…why do we spend so much time working?…is it because our economy is so bad that we’re soooo afraid to lose our jobs?…or is it because we really love our jobs or just have so many things to do that we constitute us staying back late and/or coming in early…maybe it could be our culture…I’ve been told this before by an acquaintance of mine that all over the world…we Asians have been given this tag…”ASIANS ARE UNDERPAID AND OVERWORKED”…but why should we be like that?

Does working hard and late make us more productive?…well, if it does…I think our country should no longer be called a developing country…apologies for the ranting…but this issue has been bugging me for a while now…how I wish I could be like these 2 lovely ladies.

The girl on the right is Xue Sha & the girl on the right is Sonia and they’re both from S Factor…this show is only available online…click on the picture to catch the episode…earlier I mentioned that I’d like to be like them…here’s why…

All they do is stuff like this, sorry to say but ‘bimboish’ stuff…I like the show for obvious reasons…but my question is…they actually pay people to do something like this?…I’d gladly sign up for something that is mindless as long as I have fun and I get paid…just food for thought…are we working cos we want a career or do we want a paycheque?

Gone too soon…yet again…

December 21, 2009 at 3:51 pm (Uncategorized)

As I write this post, a scene from Clueless springs into my head…and a song with it…the scene was when Alicia Silverstone’s character and Brittany Murphy’s character were at a restaurant and a song played on the jukebox and Brittany’s character started getting upset…and the song that they were listening had this line “Rollin with the Homies…”

It was one of the scenes I remember the most…and it had Brittany Murphy in that scene…

Most of you would know her, but for those who don’t…

Brittany Murphy (November 10, 1977 – December 20, 2009)[1] was an American actress and singer. She starred in films such as Clueless; Girl, Interrupted; 8 Mile; Sin City; Happy Feet; and Riding in Cars with Boys, and performed vocals on a range of films and with dance musician Paul Oakenfold, together garnering a number one dance music hit in the United States in 2006.

Here’s a clip of the scene that was in my head as I wrote this post…hope it rings a bell to some if not all of you…

Another one…gone too soon…

R.I.P. Brittany…
